Will I get to keep my home, cars & other belongings?
In most bankruptcy filings, the debtors are allowed to keep all their property. Bankruptcy law provides exemption statutes that allow you to protect your property from your creditors. Your attorney is best positioned to give you advice on which bankruptcy chapter to file, and which exemption scheme will best protect your property. During a free bankruptcy law consultation, we will tell you specifically how these exemption schemes apply to you. Even if your assets exceed the amount you are allowed to protect under exemption statutes, you may be able to file a chapter 13 bankruptcy and pay a small amount such as 2% to keep your home, cars & other property.
